76 911 power mirror wiring problems

i cant seem to find a good wiring diagram to fix the pwer mirrors in this car!!!!! if anyone has a factory diagram or even a pencil sketch w/ wire colors would be a HUGE help. i have got the mirrors themselves to move by back probing the wires in the doors. i replaced the toggle switch in the drivers door with a new one & the rocker swtich in the dash is fine. the wires were cut, by a body shop when the car was painted, but the connectins are good & same color wires on both sides of the connectors. this is a very simple set up & it is driving crazy not to have figured out!!!!!! im trying to put this back together by fri afternoon, so any info to get me back on track would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

TIA

Hi Greg,
When you wire the mirrors up, what exactly don't they do ?
Do they not work at all ?
Do they only go in and out not up and down or visa versa ?
A little more info and I might be able to help you.

i had the driver side working great & the pass side was only going left & right. took the door panels off and inspected the wire loom. found nothing wrong. went to lunch, and when i came back neither side was working. that is when i started back probing. still havnt found out why everything stopped working. thats why im looking for some sort of diagram. i must be over looking something that i cant see or get to?!?!?
heeeeellllppp.

That's what I thought... I had the same problem after a 4 month complete repaint.

I tore my car completely apart and sent all the pieces to the bodyshop to be painted, since this was the second time the car had been painted I cut the mirror wires on the drivers side where the body shop had cut them the first time, the electric mirror internals sat on a shelf in my garage until I got the car back.

Once I started reassembling everything I got in there and soldered all the wires back together but the mirrors did not work correctly even though I wired them back up exactly as they were.

Since this was very simplistic wiring I presumed something must have been damaged in the wire harness when the body shop rehung the doors or a switch had gone bad.

I struggled with them for a week before I stumbled on the answer and figured out that they were wired correctly the first time.

This is going to sound weird… I can't explain how or why this worked…try tapping on them lightly with your knuckles before you work the switch, I had to do this for about a week after the car was back together and being driven regularly again, now they work great all the time every time.

Sorry for the long response but I thought my suggestion needed to be prefaced.

Good luck, let me know what happens.
