993 conversion yes or no?

i really would like to do a 993 conversion on this 84 carrera but i dont want to decrease the value of the car and i really dont want to spend a whole lot of money, the car has some body work on the fenders and the nose would have to be replaced anyways, i like the way the car looks and im really wanting to do it. only question is, is it possible to do it under $2000??? let me know your thoughts on doing the kit to, i plan to possibly sell the car or give it to my father so let me know. below is a picture of what i would like the car to look like but in a forest green. email me at itwasntme159357@aol.com thanks

HIGHLY unlikely you can do it for anywhere close to what your budget is....not even just for parts...then you add bodywork required, paint....you are not even close the the ball park....you would be much better off to sell your car and buy 993...and most likely be money ahead not to mention getting the 3.6 and all its power, better suspension and brakes, and functioning AC

Don't even think about it. Your 2K budget probably wouldn't even do the bodywork and paint not to mention buying body pieces.

Not to mention, after you've finished, you've trashed a perfectly good Carrera.

If you want a 993, buy a 993. Leave the Carrera alone.

$2K would not be enough even if you do all the work yourself. A good paint job and body work will run you at least $3K. As others have said, you're better off selling the carrera and buying a 993 even if it initially sets you back.

The one in the picture doesn't look right because of the chrome window frames and the funky mirrors

I agree...I been down that road and don't think about it. I forgot about a lot of little details that cost me more than I had planned, even though I thought I had it all figured out..so...that car was down foreeeeever! Just my two cents. Like SoCal said...save up and bite the bullet for a real 993. Jess

Oh...lol..by the way...my 993/gt2 project is for sale! Its a great car...'78 911sc..body work nearly complete...looks bad a@@, but I just bought my '90 964 and I have many other projects at the moment

The yellow car in the picture is not an 84, it's a 72 that was converted. I thought I saw it on the For Sale board.

Since it already is a bastard, do what you want.

any car that get's converted to something it was not when it left the factory , shall be referred to as "a Bastard", many Bastards can be found at the Gruppe B meetings, and i'm not just referring to the cars alone

a kit car is a car that came in a kit, not as a fully assembled car (although some kit cars do get assembled if the buyer is crap )

to complicates things even more , some kit cars are replica's of actual cars, i call thos replicrap.
