Toyo T1-R Have you tried them ???
The next track day is approaching quite fast, and am seriously considering T1-Rs to change my Michelins. I will use 205/55 and 245/45s on 7 & 9x16 Fuchs.
I am mainly interested in fast road/track use, wear is not an object. Good behaviour in the rain also. Anyone tried them ? I searched the archives, but not much was found |

I have T1-S's (T1-R predecessor?) for street & wet track use on my '73 911E DE beater and I like them. But for dry use, I like RA-1's.

I'm with Jim. I, too, have the older model T1S's on my car right now. They are great tires for the street, especially in the wet. But it's that aggressive wet tread pattern that also makes them a bit squirrely on the track. Don't get me wrong, they are perfectly at home there and they won't ruin your day, but if you have the option then an RA-1 or equivalent might be a better choice, if not a stickier one....

Yes, they are street legal. My car is not out from winter yet, so I do not know what they are like. have a look on the toyo web site (http://www.toyo.co.uk/page.php?identity=r888) for more info. And here
Looking for user experience with Toyo R888

I managed to get a good price local in Sweden in the end (as I was after a full set). But in the UK, you could try here http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m12b99s666p1597
and 911MOT can also give you a good price. I was going to get them from 911MOT, but with the problems getting them to Stockholm, it was in the end a better deal to get them here at home

The R888 doesn't come in a 245 for 16s so you are stuck with 225/45s which suboptimal to say the least. I have T1-Rs on the wife's Audi for what its worth and they are a good road tyre. The 1700kg bohemoth Audi never sees track time !
Camskill can sell you Kumho track tyres in 225/245 or you can still get PZeroCs (in production again) from Silverline in the UK. Both have enough tread for road use. I have found the PZeroCs to be a pretty decent compromise. |

I haven't seen the R888 here in the US, but I admit that I haven't looked lately.

I've got T1R's. Love em. I think they are even better than the T1-S. Darn sticky, good sidewalls.

I have S's on the 911. I love them - street only use.
Just put R's on my Bimmer. A tad squirmy when new but breaking in nicely. Ian
