Question

Is this black stuff the remnants of clutch disc wear...it was caked along the outter rim of the flywheel. The spring centered clutch and flywheel look to be in decent shape...I'm replacing the clutch anyway.

grind it and look under a dissecting microscope to really find out

- with the non-specific heading you used, some folks may just be passing by your query

- look at the #/views of the thread -- if high and no answers, then you prob. are not going to get an answer.
