Paint expert's advice needed

First of all, thanks to any and all who have sacrificed their lives for our country.

The paint problem is on my 2002 Chevy Silverado. As you can see in the photo, it's almost a 1/4 inch long and not very deep. Maybe a 64th of an inch...maybe.

What's the best way to repair it or should I just put some primer in there and then cover it with some toush up paint?

Thanks for any and all help!

Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1

It's a 26K jpg photo....why does it not upload?

If it is a small scratch only through the clear coat and not all the way to the metal then you should get a small sanding stick or a tiny piece of sand paper and very lightly feather the edges so that the surface is close to smooth when you touch it. Then use a small stick and apply touch up paint that is about the same consistancy as fingernail polish this will give it a high fill allow it to dry hard and feather sand again. protect the area and apply some localized clearcoat (rattlecan type) once again allow it to dry completely and buff the whole area to match.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, it did go through the metal as it almost looks like a crack/tear.

Also, it seems as though I'm the only one on the planet that can't post a pic to this board. I'm trying to figure it out right now.

When I get to work tomorrow, I'll upload the pic from there.
