Figured out what the vibration was....

I have been having trouble with my new car. The steering would vibrate really bad at anything over 60 MPH. I put new ball bearings, balanced the tires, repacked the front bearings, and was almost ready to replace the steering rack.

I took it to Mirage International in San Diego and Jae the owner took it for a drive...mind you this was today....Memorial Day....and he said try removing the spacers. It completely fixed my problem.

Except now my tires and rims look funny so I need to figure out what to do because the spacers made them look beefy and now they look undersized for the car.

What kind/size spaces? Bolt on or slip on. I've heard of similar problems with universal slip in spacers...

I, too have been fighting a small vibration at highway speeds. I have to run spacers as I have Cup wheels. Mine are bolted to the factory hub and have lug studs to attach the wheels. Could you post a pic of yours? I have also rebuilt the front suspension bit and pieces. Hey, this might be an excuse to get a set of 7+9 Fuchs. You know, for safety's sake.;)

My spacers were not hubcentric. The PO used 1" spacers but he obviously did not know that the rims needs the hubcentric design. They are the type where they bolt to the hub and then you have to used different studs to attach the wheel.

I have some 16" Fuchs that are 7x9's I might sell.

why do you have to run spacers because you have cup wheels?

The offset is for the 964/993 years. To fit my SC I have to run 1 inch front 2 inch rear spacers. Of course, I now want to go back to Fuchs but the 7+9's.

I'm suprised this thread hasnt gone mad with a statement like that unless you are asking silly money.

If I was over the pond I would be PM'ing you as we speak.

Ok, I'll bite....How much for the 16" 7's and 9's?

SlantnoseSD 05-31-2006 07:26 AM

I'm not really selling the wheels althogh for the right offer I would. I am more interested in trading for a nice set of Kinesis or HRE's or something along those lines.
