Computer Chip Question-SW are you out there?

A friend of mine has an `85 ROW. I runs strong up to 5500 RPM and then cuts out like the rev limiter is kicking in. It is my understanding that the limit should be even higher than the USA 6250.
Questions: Am I right about the RPM limit? Can he replace in with a NA 24 pin chip?

Contact him through his website. He responds rather quickly.

Most likely he has another issue, like a bad rpm sensor. The minimum rev limiter is always 6520. If suspects the chip is bad, he can install a stock chip an see if the symptoms continue to occur. If it goes away, have him contact me for a exchange. I though have never seen a low rev limit issue attributed to a chip though.

Joe - as long as it's a 24 pin chip and it starts, should be good enough for testing. If the chip is from an 87, and his DME is not 4k enabled, then it may not start until the 4k jumper mod is done.
