The rails or the hinge for the recline?

If rails places some grease on the rails.

If the hinge, spray some silicone based lubricant, not WD40.

any ol' white grease is fine; Wurth HHS-2000 spray is likely better if you have it

Off topic but...

Years ago I saw the glove box book for a then new 993. The spare key had a very thin smear of bronze/gold coloured grease on it.
I think that's the same stuff. Excellent find. Details like this are interesting to me.

ive been really happy with dupont spray teflon lube. its not greasy like wd40 or pastey like some. i really like it for motorcycle chains as it dosent attract and let dirt stick to it.

VCP,

I found removing the seat makes it easier to lube all the points on the rail and how it functions. Flip the seat upside down. I also re-torqued the bolts just for insurance.

Caution remove the #2 fues on Fuse Block #1 to avoid popping the fuse when you disconnect the power seats, they are constant hot leads and will blow the fuse if it touches metal. This also an opportune time to clean, re-crimp and place some heat shrink on the contacts. Of course, if you have power seats.

Jim
