Sweet 911 at Road America DE

Thought I would share a few pictures of one serious 911 race car that I saw when my father was running the Road America DE.

Its a mid-engine bad boy that is all business. Unfortuneatly I dont know much more about it.

Was that a cantilevered front suspesion, or a new style of strut brace?

Geeeez...

Just bring money...

I wonder how much "Porsche" is left in that Porsche. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have a factory VIN.

That's kinda what I was thinking....once you have gone this far into conversion, is there really any of the elements left that make a 911 a 911? In essence, wouldn't it be better to start with some kind of tube frame and mount components on it?

Perfect Power is a shop in... Libertyville, Illinois.

The only part that looks odd to me is the smooth rear decklid -- can it really produce better aero to not have anything spoiling the airflow that far back?

Notice the Fabcar decals. I have seen some pictures of other mid engined 911 racecars they've built. Nowadays they keep busy making Daytona Prototype chassis.

Here is a link to their webpage and some similar cars they have built:

Jack, looks like someone has already done your homework for you. Weren't you just discussing pros and cons of such a wing?
There is really no need to create any dead air on the lid for the intakes to suck down, and the fan probable still the sucks cooling air thru the louvers.
I'm guessing.

I met that car at Putnam Park several years ago. It was originally built by Fabcar for Alex Job Racing and was run professionally in 1996. I believe Tom Hessert and Hurley Haywood were the drivers.

It has a slide valve motor, I think it was a 3.8 ltr, but I don't remember now.

There is a little bit on the car here
