Productive morning

This morning I was bored after dropping off the kids at school, so I went out in the garage to visit with the 911.

Next thing ya know, I was adjusting the toe in on the front end and replacing the rubber brake lines and bleeding the entire system.
Everything went almost too easy, so I washed and waxed the car and detailed it.
I tinkered with a few other things like re-installing the rear view mirror because it was too early to drink beer, but now I'm ready to get cleaned up and go for a spin and then have a cold one or three when I get back. I can almost hear the waste gate now

By the time I get back it should be close to 90 degrees out and a cold beer will taste............... well it will taste as good as it can get Life is good.

It's an easy thing to get lost in the garage with a 911, isn't it? I went out last week to look for a misplaced CD and before I knew it I had cleaned and buffed out the seats with leather emolliant. Couldn't even remember what CD I was looking for in the first place. Sounds like you had a good day.

"I tinkered with a few other things like re-installing the rear view mirror because it was too early to drink beer,"

Since when is it too early to drink a beer? sammyg2, what's that old saying??? "It's noon somewhere!"

From the sounds of it, you are doing very well for yourself and at a point in your life where many of us want to be. Good job, I am joining you now with a cold one of my own after a LONG week!

LOL, I jinxed myself.
I normally only work 4 days a week but about 9 hours ago I got the dreaded phone call, emergency at work. One of the refining units is down at the refinery and I need to help get it fixed and producing again.
Here I am working all night on my day off just so we can make enough gasoline to try and keep the prices from going up any higher. I hope you guys appreciate my efforts

I think I want to switch to your company, but I'm not sure. Could I have a few hundred gallons of premium to find out?

I'd rather not say which company, except it rhymes with the place you go if you don't get into heaven

AH, yes, the company made famous in the early James Bond novel... he is driving past a flashing sign saying that company "is coming" but the first letter is not lighting up, so it says...

Hopefully, you can help push or entice them towards reduced pollution.

On a related note, the combined biodiesel and E-85 station just opened up here today - Senator & other bigwigs came down from the state capital.

reduced pollution? Not sure if you are refering to the global situation or not but this particular refinery spends over half their maintenance budget to reduce/control/monitor emmissions. Big $$$.
Hard to imagine a way to take it more serious.

The plant was originally owned and operatrd by Texaco, it changed ownership through the Equilon joint venture.

How old is it? Depends. There are a few pieces of equipment still in operation that date back to pre-WWII, but most of the plant is much newer than that having been upgraded or expanded through the years.
Since refineries are constantly being upgraded and modified the actual age is a dynamic number.
I'd say the average age of the rotating equipment in this plant is not much older than my 911.

I'm asking b/c of the recent news on the CAA and plant modifications -- the statute seems to require that major mods. have to comply with NSPS (New Source rules - tighter). The claim is the oi co.s have been getting away w/o doing that. There was some news re the Bush admin. on this too but I forget exactly what it was.
