Guards red in a rattle can?

Anyone know an over the counter rattle can paint that comes close to guards red? My search was inconclusive.

go to your local auto paint store and have them make you up a bomb can.

Toyota Super Red is very close, and is available in Dupli-Color at most any chain parts store.

I wouldn't try to match a body panel with it, but it would be close enough for a fan or something like that.

try paintscratch.com - I ordered a guards red can a few weeks ago from them, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet - maybe this weekend?

I am sure you have someone in your area that could do the same. Jerrys paints in sacramento can put body shop quality paint in a spray paint can for you. I just give them code and you are set. I think I pay about 15.00 a can and then you buy clear coat as well.

Give them the code and they'll give you a choice of aeresol can sizes. Best price and spray tips out there.

Thanks for all the tips. Nice to know I have some options. I'm going to paint the rear valence so I'm thinking I can get away with a close match since an exact match may be a little hard to do.

I have used Paintscratch many times and have always found them to be very good. Order your paint in single stage, wet sand to 2000 grit, polish and you're done. They have mixed paint as per sample for my son's custom wheel refinishing business.

Good Luck

That's where I got mine. Ordered single stage to detail under fenderwells and engine compartment. Quality was A+ as well as the finish and EXACT DOLOR MATCH. Beware though two 12 oz spray cans delived to Va was $62.00 !!

It was still worth it.

My PaintScratch experience with Talbot Yellow:

VERY little solids and very poor color match (way tan)

the Dupli-color stuff at kragen, autozone, etc, sucks. we've been using it to touch up chips and door-edges, but it really is a bit dark. Also, every red they make is the same exact red, no matter what the name is. Toyota super red is exactly the same as the GM red they have, and even one other red.

So whats the code for guards red? im sure i could search but this seems like a pertainant question for this thread.

I have used paintscratch on another brand car. Base / clear. Match was excellent. Note that the paint may be mixed and dropped shipped from a paint store close to you. I think they contract their business out to several stores. Of course you have to know that you never have a perfect match, as your car's paint will age and fade differently depending on many facotr. The only way to match paint perfectly is to have an excellent bodyshop painter match the paint. Thtat's overkill on a valance. The fact that the valance sits low in the shade and separate from other body panels makes it a great candidate for paintscratch.com supplied spraypaint!

I've got a brand new (2 year old) can of it from Paintscratch.com and a can of Clear coat too that I've never used, not even a test. I bought it and then sold the car without using it. Stuff is damned expensive. I think I paid $30 a can for it - stupid.

$30 for both and you pay the shipping if anyone wants it.

All you folks saying that paintscratch products are expensive shoud not compare them to the krylon paint you get at the local hardware store. This is real automotive paint. The only alternative is going to your local automotive paint store and having them mix or order you a batch. They may fill it in a spraycan too, if you are lucky. Compared to that route (been there done that), paintscratch is cheap.

I agree ........plus if you don't have paint guns, filters, compressors, etc. The spray can deal is the choice of convenience, albeit $$
