Fuchs, Lindsey, or Ruf
Hi All,
I just finally bought a long awaited and sought after set of sport seats. After I get some more money togeather, its on to the next project. So much to do and not nearly enough money!!! Well, all that aside, I have always loved the look of the classic Ruf wheels on our cars. I have an 84 cab, with no tail, and a nice set of Ruf wheels would do wonders for my baby. Problem is that I have heard that the Ruf wheels are very heavy and that they are actually not as good in quality as the Fuchs. Then, I have been drooling over Jack Olsen's 911 now ever since I saw it. My wife actually got angry with me because I couldn't take my eyes off the computer one day, looking at that incredible car - laugh. Those wheels - the Lindsey's - are awesome. Much deeper than the standard Fuchs. So, I'd be interested in your thoughts and hopefully pics. What would you get for an 84 cab - 9 and 7 inch Fuchs (got beautiful sevens already but need the 9's); those awesome looking classic Ruf's, or the Lindsey's. Would love to see some of your great cabs. Mike |

I like all 3 styles.
I think Lindseys would be the best for style, size, weight, and (possibly) tire size availability. -Scott |

I think Fuch 7's and 9's would look best on a stock Carrera. With some decent rubber you have to push very hard to get to the limit. Lindsey's are great if you plan to do some track days and are looking for more rubber. The RUF's are quite heavy.
1. Fuchs 2. Linds 3. RUF

For a non-widebody I'd go with the 7/9 Fuchs..... then Lindsey for a widebody.
Never was a fan of the Ruf wheels. (Putting on my $hitstorm boots)

Laugh - confirms my own thoughts you guys! But the nice thing about the Lindsey's is that they are 17 inch vice 16. Gives you alot more flexibility concerning tires. And I really want to put the widest ones possible on the back. Without modding the body any.

I'd go with 17" wheels in any style over 16".

Thanks for the compliments on my car. My previous car had 8x10 (and also 8x9) Lindseys, which I thought looked good on a RS/SC/Carrera-bodied car:

Matteo,
Your little girl is beautiful. I have a 6 year old and she has me wrapped. Her name is Antonia. I melt - laugh. The wheels are great - beautiful! Jack - your quite welcome. It is a truly beautiful machine! You bring up the answer to a question I had. 9 and 10 inch Lindsey's (9's in the front and 10's in the back) they would fit on a non widebody car? Would i need spacers? I've contacted Lindsey earlier and they said they could work with my 6 inch Fuchs, not my 7's. Would this still work for these wheels??? |

thanks for the kind words... I am blessed with Alexandra (Ally) and Louisa (her little sister)!!! I doubt the 9s will fit in the front. I was running 9.5 (with 285/40-17) in the front on my widebody and they were rubbing (on the inside). I thought I screwed up the offset but they were very close to the fender too... mgbruno,
yup, the Jack Olsen wheels. I warned him already. If he keep posting his pic, or allow people to, one day he will see his wheels on my car . yeah those good 3 choices. I never know the RUF are heavy (I an new to P). I would take a heavy wheel off the list no matter how nice they look. I had nice heavy wheels before. Anyone know how much the lindsey 17" deep dish set would cost?

Ok, Matteo, again as with Jack, your quite welcome. Only the truth. I think little girls and their Papas are something special. I do know that I can fit some Lindsey's on my car, just not sure the largest size. Steve Weiner has told me that he'd recommend 7's and 8.5's in the LIndseys for a car like mine. Just don't know if thats the widest. I do like the saying "wider is better" as well. Especially for a clean non widebody carerra. Looks awesome with nice fat rear.

Jack had 8's and 9's on his narrow body... So I am sure you can go bigger than what 7's and 8.5's For pricing on the Lindseys you can check their website http://www.lindseyracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=LR&Category_Code=GENWHEELSP2 |

I talked to a Lindsey Rep - very nice guys. Without your own 6 inch Fuchs, ~2300. With a set of 6 inch Fuchs, they would deduct about 300. That would be for 4 wheels. Seems like a pretty good deal for me - for those beautiful wheels. At least thats what they told me.

I am sending my wheels back to Lindsey to change the polish finish to RSR.....
![]() I agree about the cost.... $2,300 for a custom set is very competitive. |

yeah, but nothing for these cars is cheap. you should look at what only 2 9 inch fuchs go for! i've seen them for 2600! at that price the lindsey's are a bargain. I'm with you though - will just have to keep saving - but thats half the fun - at least i think so.

i was hoping someone would post some pics of an 80's cab with lindsey's. Jacks car is awesome, but I'd like to see these on a car like mine. I've never seen this done.
