Steering Problem

I have an '82SC Targa. The steering feels spongy not tight. I have just had a 4 wheel alignment. It pulls a little to the right. The alignment shop thinks trhe steering rack has some play. The shocks seem fine and a visual inspection of bushings looked good. The steering wheel has a little bit of play almost none but when going over a bump it sort of kicks back. What should I check for? It is not lowered 25" 3/4 from ground. Is there adjustment at the steering rack?

Mebbe tie rod ends....

That sounds like a good guess. I would start replacing things a little bit at a time, as they are wearing out anyways with age on a 16 year old car. Tie rod ends are a good place to start. Also check your rubber bushings at the rack and consider upgrading to Turbo Tie Rods as they are much stiffer...

Just a thought...
