67 911 trans questions

This is in reference to a project I am working on. I am installing a 67 911 5 speed into a dunebuggy. I am very curious to know if someone has an old speedo cable that they would be willing to part with. I will be using a 914 speedometer and wonder as well if the 5 speed cable takeoff is geared to read the same as the 914. I know the 914 drives from the wheel (or does it ? ) Has any of you guys put one of these trannys into a bug before ? I am also unsure of the shift pattern -I believe it is R 2 4
1 3 5 Am I close ?
Will the 911 cable attach to a 914 speedo ? Please help. I will gladly accept a broken cable for if nothing else I could use the cap to block off the takeoff at the tranny end ( if I end up driving this off the front wheel )
Thanks so much. Bart

Bart, I think I can answer some of your questions. Your right that the 914 uses the same transmission, with a few modifications. The 914 also feeds the speedo from the angle drive on the transmission (I think you were thinking of the VW bug). Depending on tire size, you should be ok with the 914 speedo and coax cable. Check the prices here as you probably won't find one much cheaper elsewhere.

You are also correct on the gate for the 901. Starting at far left, forward is reverse, back is 1st. I have no experience in putting one in a VW, although I have heard of them going into Vans. Good luck.
