Electrical and fuel connections for a '74
Do any of you "mid years" guys have any schematics or drawings shoing the electrical and fuel/vacuum line configuration in the engine compartment for a '74 with CIS? My car has the Bosch CD unit, but I don't know how to make the right connections to the distributor (Pertronics bas been installed) and the coil and ground. I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer!!

We have been fighting with my '74 2.7CIS for several days now and we can't get it to start. The starter turns and the fuel pump is working and we hav power at the coil and a spark at the plugs, but still "no go". I don't know how how the fuel/vacuum lines are supposed to run as my old engine was cobbled together by someone and the new engine didn't have any of these connections. Thanks for any assistance you could offer!

I just went out and tried it again. This time I was able to get the car to start! It's backfiring and jumping around (erratic idle speed), so I must have some vacuum connections wrong. But at least it started!!

Took me a while to find this as the search engine seems to be malfunctioning. Info on 1974 fuel and vacuum line hookups:

Make sure your distributor is dropped properly at TDC. Im guessing you didnt mess with the firing order. Also make sure the reluctor lines up at the same position the rotor lines up with the distributor inner contact points. If you are off there it make actuall fire to the wrong cap terminal acting just like a poorly timed/dropped distributor.

Kurt and Jim,
Thank you, I'll go through everything today "piece by piece" to get this running smoothly. I'm just glad to finally hear the new engine run!
