Just pulled A/C; Do I store or sell parts?

I yanked most of my A/C over the weekend. The system couldn't hold a charge for more than a few months, and I was tired of dealing with it. Someday, I will put it back in (aftermarket, most likely).

What do I do with my compressor and condensors? Do I sell them? Do I store them to use with my next system? Do I add a few drops of oil into the compressor and then seal the openings?

Right now, I just put rubber covers over the openings, and put them in the garage.

Personally would save them in case you ever sell the car. Not everyone lives in SoCal and might need the A/C.

Sell them to me j/k

If it wasn't working then saving them doesn't make sense to me. In a few years you'll just end up replacing everything including your hoses if you decide to go back to it.

But there are people here with far more knowledge then me.

On the compressor just plug up the ports; assuming (a nippon) the aluminum hose manifolds, if it is a York then just donate it to a reef build.

Same for evaporator and condensers, just find something to close up the openings.

I would keep everything at a high level, in otherwords in the dry attic is better than damp dirt floor of the barn.

Again, you would suprised how many clients contact us looking for parts that the previous owners tossed.

I have a complete setup for sale. It held a charge and worked fine. I took it out for weight savings, but have everything complete including the dash controls and brackets for sale. Cheap.

I sold my complete system to some dude in Germany for $900 off eBay. Don't be afraid to put them on eBay and send internationally since apparently they are desired in other parts of the world.

It's kind of amazing to me that anyone would want the stuff. The York compressor wasn't good when it was good. Likewise the receiver/drier (or, is it dryer?). Particularly since some of the new stuff that is available is so much better.

The valuble 911 A/C parts are the Porsche specific items which seem to be either in bad condition (or damaged during removal - "ham fisted" comes to mind), lost or left on the car (most owners do not have a clue how much A/C stuff there is and where it is all located). Many of these parts are NLA from Porsche. I will wager that not one in 1000 "A/C removals" gets everything A/C related off the car such as all the brackets, wiring, two-row pulley off the crank, special linkages from the MFI cars, window washer reservoir relocation parts, etc. The York and even the Nippondenso compressors are not worth much used and the R/D essentially nothing. The hoses, if original factory and in very good condition may be of interest to someone doing a concours restoration. Jim
