Heater Flapper Box
Doing summer chores on the car today. . .
I've removed my old heater flapper box as you can see in the photo #1 below. The strap next to the box holds the line that leads to the lever in the drivers compartment that opens and shuts the flapper. On the new piece (photo #2) this strap is not needed b/c the part that holds the line is attached to the box itself. My question is do I need to remove the piece circled in red (photo #1) and somehow attach it to the new piece? The new piece has a flared end where the the piece circled in red would go, and when I try to unscrew the piece from the strap it doesn't budge, but there is a good bit of rust so it coule be sized. photo #1 ![]() photo #2

HI the Ally end on the pipe clamp should be on the end of the outer cable, try a little heat and some grips to remove. The control flaps you have to fit are late ones, just check the clearance before you go any further, if they do not fit try E-mail tonyWatson14@hotmail.com at Watson autoparts as he still supplies the old type, part No 90.001 left, 90.002 right

What part of the "clearance" should I be checking? I assume you are talking about clearance around the flapper box to car body. I put the new piece up and it set flush to the body and there seemed to be no interference with anything, but I wasn't looking to see if there would be any specific "clearance" problems b/c I just a assumed the piece would fit.
As for the alley, how do I attache it back onto the cable? Quote:

HI the ally' part is just pushed on to the plastic cable, you require clearance round every thing, starter, throttle rod, cables, check the pipe length to the heat exchanger also.
