WEVO Banana Arm EZ PINS?

Has anyone used these pins in the rear suspension? What is your opininion? I have a number of WEVO parts and am very satisified. I have done a search of PP but have not found any information.

Thanks
DanB

we've installed a few and are quite happy with the results. It saves the shop and client hours of time when replacing a control arm or inner bushings w/o the need to remove the engine and trans.
The earlier torsion tubes don't have indentations to clear the oe bolts when you go to remove them with motor/trans still in the car

Would someone post a pic please. I'm not sure what pins you are talking about.

Exactly which years don't have the torsion tube indentations? Would my '77 benefit from the pins?

77 has the indents- i think 73 is the first year with the indentations if my grey matter is working right, and again these are only useful if you need to remove the control arms from the car

Seems worthwhile if you've got an early 911 racecar

Not sure it's worth the trouble to install (weld) the later version control arm mounts just for the indentations. I think a high-strength clevis pin would make removal easier (or was it the fact that early 911s had pivot bolts installed in the wrong direction?).

the indentation is in the torsion tube, not the mounts

I installed these during my last torsion bar/bushing upgrade. My '71 does not have the indentation on the torsion tube so I had to drop the motor and trans.

Anyway, they are *slightly* larger in diameter than the original bolts and would not fit through my Elephant Racing monoballs. They did however, work with my Racer's Edge monoballs.

Of course, the Elephant monoballs worked fine with the stock bolts, it seems just that one odd combination did not work.

Dave,
Thanks for the correction. Okay, I know the early control arm bolts were installed with the bolt head on the inside. I thought the later cars had the bolt heads on the outboard side, but I guess they were oriented the same but the indent on the torsion tube allowed removal.

How about just reinstalling the bolt with the head facing toward the outside? Are these Smart Racing pins still needed in this case?

Hey Sherwood-

If I can butt in-

Here's a good picture showing the indentations.

Your previous assumption was correct. The later bolts were installed outside in. You can try that with the early cars but without that indentation you can't get a straight shot.

EZ Pins

Sherwood,

If I follow this, than are you saying without the indentations on the torsion the bolts will not be removable without an engine drop even if the arm bolts are facing outside in?

Do you think the ez pins will not work for an early car without the indentations?

you won't be able to put the bolts from the outside - in if the tube has no indentation
that is one of the reasons why the ez pins were invented

Oh here, I found an indirect picture on my computer.

They are flat on one side and just the right lenght to get the bolt on and thats it.

Here is another indirect shot that might help.
