Ignition switch shut off?
This is on a 1980 SC that starts and runs fine but will not shut off with the ignition switch. When I turn the switch to off, the gauges, accessories, etc; go off and the alt. light comes on, like in the run position but the engine does not miss a beat. also, it only does this after a drive and up to temperature. It starts up and shuts off fine with the switch when cold. Any ideas? Thanks.

Now, it stays running hot or cold. What could keep the engine running when the switch is off when everything else shuts off with the switch like it should?

It's a stock ignition correct?
MSD has a diode fix in their instructions.

Odd, but this happened to me last weekend. Can't explain why but I either pulled the electric window relay or the cruise control relay and the car starts and stops fine now. I am really perplexed whats going on here including why the electric windows still operate w/o the relay. I may have some wiring out of place from a previous owner. This might be a "one of" situation and of no help to you.

Stock ignition. I know the turbos have a diode at the generator light for the ignition delay relay probably to prevent this kind of problem. I am not sure though.
