Removing gauges

How do you remove the gauges of a 1985 911 to change their bulbs?

The gages should pull out from the front. I pull on each side, going back and forth and they will eventually come out. There is a rubber ring around the case that provides the seal and they can get stuck inside the opening with old age. On our 1987, the dash is covered with leather in the gage area so I have to be careful not to damage it. I also have to pull the steering wheel and hub so the tach can come out completely. Good luck
