1983 911SC - Inoperative odeometer

Having successfully stripped down my speedometer in line with the relevant Pelican Technical Article to address an inoperative odeometer.

I discovered that the speedo housing contained a number of small pieces of what looked like melted beeswax.

On closer examination it seems as if the 'device' originally contained between the plastic grub screw at the top of the small electrical motor and the geared odometer drive has melted with the exception of its supporting spindle and locking washer.

As everything else about the speedometer and odeometer seem to be in superb condition it seems a shame to junk the whole instrument for such a small part.

Does anybody know exactly what 'mechanism' the plastic remains originally (presumably an intermediate cog, gear or grubscrew) was and is it posssible to obtain an appropriate replacement part.

Regards

Martin Gibson
