You have a lip on that front bumber with the tail?? I think you'll need one at triple digit speeds (unless you keep it under 60 all the time...)

111degrees out, dew point about 45%, top down 75mph=190degrees WITH A/C ON! now did the A/C work good? w/top down it was doable, but not great. drop dead good looking g/friend and i drove the roughly 100 miles to the cool(?) pines-95degrees, had lunch for an hour. drank copious amounts of water and decided it was too damn hot back in phx and getting a NO-TELL MOTEL would be the best thing to do! tried 3 places, all booked due to girls softball tournament. oh well we will go up on rim. head out of payson doing 55mph-no A/C on and come out of star valley 190degrees on gauge. the next thing i know i have lost all RPMS(went to 0) and i am trying to get off road. get 1/2 off road and have to push car away from traffic. try to start.........will not start! im pissed now! WTF!!!!! so let sit 15min and pace madder than a hornet! get back in and try to fire. if i gave it gas it would die. if i didnt give it any gas it would cough sputter burp fart . this went on a few minutes. finally fired and i had RPMS. whipped a U-e and back down the hill to star valley. on flat ground @ 45mph lost rpms and coasted into qwickie mart. sit there 2+ hours for AAA tow truck(flat bed hauler). tow gets there and cant get bed low enough so car bumpers would not scrap concrete!!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!
tow guys says them thar cars are known to vapor lock. so i go to gas cap unscrew..........and nothing. get back in and it fires. look at a very hot g/friend and said lets go for it!!! and off we went doing speed limit and no A/C. get out of payson and hit first major uphill grade in 5th gear w/A/C ON. and once again lost rpms(went to 0). turned ignition while getting into slow lane. cough sputter belch fart burp. turn off A/C and it catches and off again we go w/out having to pull over. go all the way to the flats outside sahuaro lake, turn A/C back on with top up and begin to chill down. went to freeway 101 and it ran fine w/exception of slight surge at 65mph thru photo radar zone. flawless trip to home. sat all night. washed and dryed car following AM and it fired right up???? so first i will change fuel filter. i had fresh full tank of union 76 premium gas. next look at fuel pump(i dont know why cuz it ran fine-but i will anyway for drill) and then sit back and scratch my ass wondering WTF happened. g/friend and i have taken car twice to elevation before even faster than this trip. only difference was outside temp this trip.also went to PIR and ran the snot out of it and never a problem. anybody got any ideas on this one?????? 110k miles on car. not a leak, pristine engine. new plugs, wires, air filter, oil, dist cap and rotor etc. |

Chuck,
sounds like fuel starvation to me. Had it occur once, was water in fuel and need fuel filter replacement.
