green dizzy wire replacement advice needed

Im getting ready to replace my green wire...getting the confidence to
mess with the distributor etc. my green wire is discolored and the
plastic connector where the green wire enters the distributor is
cracked and crumbling...last night I used some epoxy to strengthen
where the green wire enters the distributor and stop it from cracking
more....it looks like a good temporary solution but i havent had a chance to start and drive car to see if this situation is ok for now (winter still here).

In a month or so I hope to replace the green wire entirely. However,
my wire is one long green wire, so my concern is having to build a connection so my green wire coming from the CDI will plug into the pigtail that i will need to order from Pelican.

If anyone has done this before, I have a few questions:

- i believe that inside the "green wire" are two wires which "look"
different from one another...I assume...? perhaps they look the same?...anyway, when building the connection, (i believe the female connection), so that the new pigtail will connect to the original green wire going into the CDI, how will I know which wire goes on the left and which on the right so that i don’t incorrectly connect wires? I saw the thread which mentions using an ohm meter...can anyone explain this further? I don’t know much about electrics, however, I would assume if you hooked an ohm meter up to the new pigtail to see which wire is on the left or right, there would be no reading since the pigtail is not yet wired to the car? Am I wrong?

-is there any other way (without cutting off the end) to know which wire is on the left and right so that when i build the female connection, i put the wires in properly to match up with the pigtail male end?

- Also, alternatively, can i just cut off the male, non-dizzy end of the pigtail and splice the green wire coming from the CDI to the new pigtail using solder and those typical wire connectors you can get at home depot ....for example, im talking about these things (below) as an alternative way to connect the wires:

Doing this would seem easier (to match up the wires visually) and more reliable and would avoid having to build the female connection.....

Thanks..sorry if this is confusing. im having a hard time describing what i mean. Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated.
