Anyone here using LED clusters in their taillights/sidemarkers?

Just wondering. I just finished rebuilding my taillight assemblies/housings yesterday (pics coming) and the last thing I need to do is re-install the brown "wafer" pieces in each of the bulb sockets. Since I'm at that point, I'm wondering if it might be better to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED clusters (brighter, less current draw, more reliable, etc.)

Anyone done this? Recommendations? Pics?

Looks good, but I'm considering maybe going with these:

I'm paranoid about getting rear-ended. Plus I figure anything I can do to cut down on the current loads going through my 30+ year-old wiring is a good thing. So it ain't "period correct". So what. From the outside it'll look it.

Plus I'm paranoid about getting rear-ended. Anything to make my rear lights brighter I figure can't be that bad a thing.

I have replaced all my bulbs with LED's. You will have to replace and rewire the indicator relay as well, as the reduced current will stop it from working - I solved the LED indicator problem!!

Apart from that, It is all working as it should. Not sure the light from the LED bulbs are any brighter than the normal ones though?!?

Thanks Pal. I'm not sure about the lumens output of the LEDs (I'll call to see if they know versus an incandescent bulb). They are more directional in nature though, which is helpful since more of the light is directed towards a person following behind you. The idea for this stems from motorcycles - the LEDs are very popular here because whether or not they actually are brighter in terms of lumen output, they APPEAR brighter to someone following behind, so the prevailing wisdom out there is that they're safer. Also you can rig up various flashers and so-on with LEDs that would be impractical with incandescent bulbs (a common modification in the Mercedes SLK crowd is to rig up a flasher so the third brake light "flashes" three times when you depress the brake pedal, making it more noticeable to an inattentive person "zoning out" behind you).

All these ideas, plus the desire for less current draw overall are motivations to do this. Thanks for your input.
