new look center reflector

I'm going to install new fiber glass bumpers front and rear along with a 3.2L engine. I wanted a new racy look and saw this one on another thread I think it looks cool. what do you think?

Looks like something is missing. But it looks functional, are those holes? I like the bumpers and the car looks cool.

You asked. I think the center reflector for these years functions to fill in between the taillights on both sides. Without it, something goes awry.

Yes they are holes, it is not my car but I want to do mine this way I think it would help to get rid of the heat from the muffler but I don't know if I ever wanted to go back to the reflector could be done. I'm wondering if it would affect the resale value?

I keep wondering if there is some vent/mesh type material that would help. I don't like the holes lie that though. Car is cool.

I don't like it at all. It looks like the reflector fell off. At least put body colored molding in its place.

Looks better than I woulda thunk!

I'd look for a rounded corner rectangular stainless or chrome type vent off another car to sorta finish-off those holes. Take a walk through a good junkyard and see what you find. Might work best to find what you will use first then cut the holes to fit the finishing trim. You can always cover it later with a normal reflector if you decide you don't like it.

Are those Lindsey 17" Fuchs? That car overall looks pretty good...a little unfinished but good.

Looks like you're waiting for a part to arrive in the mail. Painted solid with vinyl or painted PORSCHE is an attractive option, IMHO. Cheers!

Talking

I like it

Here's my car.
I drilled the holes partly to loose some weight, partly because I like drilling holes and I wanted to see if I could make flanges around the holes with my simple hand made tool. Very little weight savings here, but I also did the bumpers (thick alu.).
The reflector and front bumper rubber strip are going back on though.

what about a mesh grill over the holes, with PORSCHE graphic painted onto the mesh? That would look bad ass if you ask me.

I like it, but the round holes Ove has done, look better to my eye.

What about some more holes on the bumper and rear valance, then the whole back would match?

The mesh is a good idea. Well worth a try.

Here's another one. He has welded up the smaller holes for the center reflector for a cleaner look compared to mine. But I never intended to loose the reflector

I just finished a fiberglass rear bumper install on my 930 and incorporated 964 tail lights but I left out the 964 center reflector because of advice to vent turbo heat when the car is on the track. My in-house automotive engineer formulated a layout of six holes which she advised would give optimal flow in a negative pressure zone thereby extracting pent up heat rejected from the turbo. She also said that more than six holes looked like "swiss cheese".

I say, holes look good. Thanks to mmastro who got me going on this concept.

Jim

Stainless Steel "Cloth" , with PORSCHE stamped in it 3D.

Think Cadilac or grill material. Available at Pegasus Racing Supply.
