Installing a Headliner

Has anyone installed a headliner? Any tricks? I could use a little advice on the installation sequence. Things like where to glue, how to get the fabric even and tight and how to get the bows in place. Thnaks...

There is a brief article in a recent European Car magazine that has the following comments: automotion sells a kit that has new bows, etc which is very much recommended. Getting the liner stretched and smooth is difficult for a novice. It is difficult without the right tools to get the material tucked into the window gaskets, etc. My 74 911 needs a new one also - I'll probably get an expert to do it. I was quoted $325 material & labor. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I also concour about professional help. I hired a fellow to do the job and was very pleased with the results. It took him over 3 hours to do the job. I'm convinced this is not a job for the faint of heart.

I agree with you guys that the headliner install isn't for the faint at heart. Having recently done one in my 930 on my own. I completed the job with great results, only after several days of giving up with the wrong glues. Hint: if it comes in a spray can, it most likely won't hold for a long time. I ended up using the same stuff the pros use, sray gun and all. If you don't have access to one, and alot of time, it is much easier to pay for the job!
