I'm getting my Porsche painted (Heres a good shop in San Diego)

My 911 is currently at teh paint shop becasue I had some paint cracks on the passenger side. The shop is going to do the complete right side and fill in the ugly antenna hole with metal. I dropped it off on Friday and I went by today. They had it 75% stripped and prepped. It will be completely prepped by tomorrow and then they are going to paint it. Unfortunately I am not going to get it back until early next week since they had to wait for the rubber parts to come in.

These guys are great and have kept me informed throughout the entire paint process. I can walk right in and check out how its coming along whenever I want.

They also give a PCA or BMWCCA discount.

If anyone needs a good paint shop in the San Diego area, the place is called:

Elite Auto
4949 Baltimore Drive
La Mesa, CA 91941

619-667-3788 ask for Adrian and tell him Justin sent you and you will get discount pricing.

Did you get a price quote? Things can go south in a hurry if you don't have a firm quote to work with. Going into this without one can lead to some stressful periods waiting for the final bill. At that time you don't have anything else to do but pay it. Hopefully this won't be the case and your car will turn out beautiful. Good Luck.

Of course I got a price quote. I got many price quotes from high end to low end.
High end was $8000
Low end $500 (Earl Scheib)

This shop $1200 and they do real nice work. They are also the only shop that said they would be willing to fill in the old antenna hole int he fender with metal. Earl Scheib wanted to fiberglass & bondo it and the high end shop wanted to do it with metal but they said a 3 month turn around.

This shop wil have it back to me early next week which is a complete turn around of 10 days. I did see soem of their work and they had a Corvette in there that looked real nice and an old military half track that they were in the process of stripping for paint.

I will post pics next week when it comes back.

If it comes out well, take every car that needs any body work to them NOW...thats VERY inexpensive for a quality repaint.

Considering the materials, the disassembly, window removal, repairs, sanding, masking, painting, color sanding and buffing, plus reassembly, and clean up, thats a steal and a half.

That is why I went and why I am referring them. I went over today to look at the car. It has been there since Thursday afternoon and it was almost all stripped and prepped. The rocker panels were off, the antenna hole was filled in and the rubber parts were on order. I am very happy so far.

Thats hard to believe? What an awsome deal! How many man hours do you think they put into it? At least 120 I would guess...thats only 10 $ an hour labor, not to mention cost of materials. Dude,.. im thinking you left out a zero. But I hope you get a great paint job...I cant wait to see the pics.

In SD, cheap Mexican labor is plentiful. They work hard, learn fast, and most of the time do a damn good job, all without knowing how to speak a lick of english. Anyway, good luck, post pics when it's done.
