Flipping wipers to rest on passenger side

The reason is, when you shut off the wipers and they park on the opposite side of the windshield, all the slush and water and dirt they move runs up in the driver's face.

I'm not really seeing this. My experience is that when it is not actually pouring out (ie. you are using intermittent wipers - a very common situation in San Francisco), that on the last stroke before parking, the wipers, as they move CCW to the left, push water up off the top of the blade. As the wipers park, that water then runs down the driver's side of the windshield right into your field of vision. Parking them on the right would alleviate that situation and that's why I've considered doing this.

People who claim "they interfere with my line of vision" should instead install the Yellow Pages on the driver's seat so that doesn't happen.

That's only applicable if you live in a "slushy" state. I personally like them out of the way...

I am thinking of turning my wiper arms to the passenger side, out of the way of the driver sight, and to look like alol other cars. Could you explain a little more detail of why they are needed?
