Rev limit
I have an 1970 2.2E MFI which I love for its revability. When this motor needs rebuilding I would like to retain the cases, crank etc. however a bit more overall "go" would be nice. The questions are, what combination of bore size will give more power/torque and what is the maximum RPM such a motor could safely be taken to. I would love to hit 8,000RPM easily.

You should check out Bruce Anderson's book. He has some good discussions on the specific various upgrade options for the 2.2 engines.
