Factory alarm

Hi my ROW 89 Carrera has the Porsche alarm stickers on the side windows but it doesnt have the key on the door edge like I have seen in the Bentley books. Did they do away with the key hole by 89 or should it be there.
I see that the alarm relays are under the dash so it is fitted.

What are the features of the factory alarm?

thanks in advance
Mark

Mark,

Sounds like a previous owner was spoofing a factory alarm ...

The factory alarm unit isn't under the dash and doesnt look like a conventional relay ... it is cigarette-pack-sized, and mounted under the fresh air blower in the trunk, and rather difficult to get to! BTW, the genuine factory alarm always had the keyswitch in the door, too!

Yes my description of the location and size of the unit wasn't acurate, it is exactly where and how you describe it but.................... there is no keyswitch in the door.

No keyswitch in the door, no factory alarm. You sure there's no aftermarket alarm in stalled?

Like Warren said, probably a "factory" spoof.

The alarm components are there where they should be at the top of the trunk floor tucked behind the heater hoses but there is no key switch in the door......are there any other 89 owners out there or even 964 owners who don't have the key switch but have an alarm that operates. I have removed all the wiring from the trunk floor area and under dash whilst converting from left to right hand drive (see my other post)

Australian project. left to right 3.2

and I havent found anything that appears to be aftermarket or any wires that just end for no reason.
