Minnesota Pelicans/electrical help/free beer!?

Is there a Minnesota Pelican that may be able to help me with an electrical problem? I have more ambition than brains when it comes to issues such as these.

I have been conversing with Gunter and I believe he has done all that he can from a distance. The attached link summarizes all that we have been going through.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/287610-no-turn-over-recent-engine-drop-install-post2673186.html#post2673186

I live on the north end of Minneapolis in Champlin.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Kirk

OK Minnesota Pelicans. I know you are out there. Is there someone who can direct me to a knowledgeable Porsche guru who is familiar with electrical?

Summit Pale Ale is my personal favorite and I am willing to deliver a significant amount of your favorite in return for help.

Does anyone know much about Aaron and FLATSIX? I saw one of their cars at the Nord Stern show a couple of weeks ago. It looked nicely done.

Their website shows some pretty cool stuff. However, I think they may be out of my price range.

Thanks,
Kirk

mnmike,

Click on my thread in the first post and take a look. If you can help, great, if not I understand. Don't get yourself into my mess.

Thanks,
Kirk

I am not mechanically inclined, but Rick Moe at the Nurburgring Inc. does a great job. If you can't find anyone to help give him a call.

Porsche Mechanic. Rick has worked both my cars and my families cars for 10+ years. His shop is in St. Boni on the west side of town.

aaron at flat6 does some amazing work. (i've seen original IROCs in there that people trust him with)for electrical, he is the only one in the shop that does the super technical stuff, other guys are body work and maintence stuff guys. as of right now i was trying to get my car in there for the same kind of issues and he's booked out a month right now. i know of german auto works in st. louis park right off excelsior blvd. i've seen quite a few p-cars through there. i might be able to swing up and help you look at stuff, what kind of car and problems are you having?

I have not used either flat six or nurburgring, but if you think flat six is out of your price range....I wouldnt bother going to nurburgring. My impression of Rick, is that he works on a few cars and charges a premium. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just my opinion. Btw, is nurburgring still open at the st boni location? I drive by everyday on hwy 7 and dont see anything going on there.

I wish I could help, but I cant read electrical diagrams to save my life.

Maybey try Courtneys or Leightons. They are both in Eden Prairie.

Good Luck!

PhatRedHead,

I have a no start condition as a result of doing a recent engine drop. I had sucked a rag into the fan and had to remove it to get out all the shreds of cloth.

While in there I did misc. maintenance replacing seals and gaskets. After reassembly it appears as though I am not getting enough voltage to the starter. I get a click at the solenoid but not enough to turn over the engine.

The starter has been bench tested and works as has the alternator. I do get it to start when I run a lead from the starter to the + on the battery with the key in the on position. I have also replaced the electrical portion of the ignition switch.

There is a link to a thread I had going with Gunter that summarizes all of his attempts.

I have a 1982 sc with 185,000 miles. There was a complete top end rebuild at 162,000.

Thanks for any and all help/suggestions.

Kirk

I have used Aaron at Flat6 numerous times and have always been happy with his work. His shop is the only one I use in the cities - he is worth a call.

Might want to give Johnson Autosports a try. Had them do some work on my car this past winter. They picked up and delivered (for a nominal fee). I have no complaints about the work that they did, reasonable and quality. No affiliation, just satisfied.

Kirk,

Sent you a PM. Plenty of work going towards Flat Six. Waiting list is a sign of quality work, of course.

Fin,

I spoke to Aaron this afternoon. He seems like a pretty straight shooter. I am arranging a flatbed for delivery tomorrow.

Thanks for the support.

Fin,

OK, I like to think I'm at least as smart as the average monkey. But, what is a PM and how do I retrieve it?

Kirk,

Gray square with white letters 'USER CP' under the "FREE SHIPPING" banner up above. Click it and it will show your Personal Mail and posts that you have responded to.

PM is used to take discussions off-line or to pass emails/phone numbers/snailmail addresses/etc.

I drove by Flat 6, nice to get a eyeful of the various Porsches that he and his crew are working on.

Good luck,

Fin
