CIS fuel lines.....other than plating, how to refinish?
930 engine rebuild:
Fuel lines on the 930 look a bit faded and well, shabby. How to spiff em up without taking them to a cad plating outfit (which is weeks out for the next cad plating batch)? Any brush on plating 'kit' that would work fine?

Craig, Use POR - 15 or Red high- temp engine paint. I did the paint thing with some steel fittings when I redid the old 3.2's high pressure fuel lines. A hydraulics shop brazed the AN-6 fittings to the Porsche metric lines.
I prepped and painted the lines and then baked on at 160 degrees F in the wife's oven. The paint was very durable and looked decent. I think you could buy a small CAD plating kit from Eastwood, if that's what you are seeking. Can't vouch for how good it looks. Doug

Sorry, no. I took a bunch of photos before the 3.2 was reinstalled a year or so ago, but it was a day or two before I had installed the new fuel lines. The Carrera lines are hidden underneath the intake manifold, for the most part, so mostly, I just painted for corrosion resistance. Worst case, you could always remove them and have them CAD plated at a later date. Paint won't hurt anything. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Doug

BTW - I did not paint the hex heads, so there was no concern that the wrench wouldn't fit or mar the paint.
