Distributor Rotor Replacement
I recently went to purchase a new cap, rotor and points for the 77 3.0 that’s in my 76 Euro Targa. A local shop offered me the rotor with or without the Rev Limiter. Not sure if I should forgo the rev limiter, I decided not to purchase yet.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions on this? Thanks in advance for any info. ------------------ |

I not 100% sure for your year but Porsche uses a fuel pump cut off as a limiter so you car may have this instead

It depends on how you drive the car. If you are lead footed by nature, tend to run in time trials or autocrosses, it would be a good idea to limit the motor to a maximum of 6800 rpms.
If you drive very sedately, then don't...but then you should sell the car and buy a moped....8^) Be advised that overreving, due to a missed shift can/will still damage the engine even with a rev limiter. Good Luck. |

Thanks for the info.
And as far as driving habits, yes there was lead surgically implanted in my foot years ago. So with that in mind, I believe the cost of the rev limiting rotor outweighs the cost of motor repairs. |

The previoius post is right, most damage is probably done during downshifts and the rev limiting rotor won't help you there at all. Also the rev limiting rotor just cuts the spark, fuel keeps going in and when spark comes back, bang. We don't use them on either of the cars that could for those reasons.
