Warbling sound.
I know that engine sounds are probably the hardest thing to describe (at least for me). My 88 Carrera sounds great and healthy on the highway but I do notice a strange hollow "warbling" sound from the rear, almost unrelated to the engine.
Any ideas what it could be? Wish I could be more descriptive. Thanks in advance.

Does the sound change when cornering? Maybe a wheel bearing?

No, it's consistant. I only really hear it when I'm on the freeway going 60+MPH. Also, the steering seems fine. It sounds like a bongo drum but not that loud.
