12V lighter

Could I use the cigarrette lighter to power my MP3 player or do I need another type?

Another type of what?

Anyway, 12VDC is 12VDC. The power needed for a cigarette lighter circuit should be plenty for any MP3 players I can think of.

So, any cigarette lighter adapter would work?

Any type of lighter adapter should work. Just make sure that the lighter housing is clean (good contact means less chance of popping a fuse) and that whatever you plug in doesn't exceed the capacity of the adapter.

Keep in mind that 911's have the slightly larger diameter cigarette lighter. This can be frustrating with some device's plugs (there are sleeved made to address it) and it's not an issue at all with some other plugs.

My Valentine had the auto eject thing going when i first used the lighter, so I grabbed the cardboard from a film box and ripped up a section, folded it in half, and curved it to fit. Radar sheilds were in full force from then on.

I powered my V1 with the dome light circuit. I have a Cab so I pulled the domelight out, wired it up, and stuffed everything into the cavity. All that sticks out is the phone cord end that plugs unto the V1.
