Accelerator pedal bushings and linkage question

TMoreken recently posted an issue with a stuck throttle and potential engine damage from over-revving and responses suggested replaceing accelerator bushings.

I had the throttle stick for half an instant last weekend on the back straight at Mid Ohio which definitely got my attention. I disconnected linkage from the carbs and tried to reproduce the problem but couldn't. In looking at it closer, it looks like the ball sockets on the throttle rod are worn and, based on the lateral movement I'm seeing, that the bushings are pretty well shot also. So, it seems that because of the sideways slop, the linkage just got caught on the floor pan at WOT.

I picked up bushings, ball socket & throttle rod and plan to handle this over the weekend - the question is, is there anything in particular to watch out for or any tips or tricks for doing this job???? TIA
