ROWs and cats
My 3.2 is an ROW and I have to attach a cat for certification. At present it is running the original factory non cat pipe. The OS plug has a little blank cap in it from the factory. Will the car run with the cat and the OS fitted or will it upset the computer?

Good question. I suppose the answer is yes. My 85 came to Sweden from Germany with a cat. As cars that age donīt need a cat in Sweden the POīs mechanic replaced it with a factory bypass. I doubt he would have fiddled with the Motronic. The opposite, in your case, would probably work too.
I am definitely no expert though.

My 1985 ROW has a cat and OS. I am not sure if they were installed before or after it was imported 1986.

ROW cars of the time were either configured to run w/o cat...or there were versions that were indeed ROW with cat ( tax break to promote unleaded fuel use). The former was far more prevalent.
The O2 sensor is used for any cat equipped car to get the A/F ratio under tighter control. Too rich and you get a glowing cat.... - Wil
