How do I get under a 964?
 

I like to throw the comedians an easy one now and then, but the question remains...

I need to jack up the soon to be mine 964 and place it on jackstands in back. I did a search and found that lifting by the motor is inadvisable. The jackstand points are the same as the jack points so how to do this? Any help is appreciated.

I've refrained from lifting these cars equipped with the hydraulic motor mounts, by the engine unless they were converted to the RS rubber ones.

Use a floorjack positioned under the suspension pickup points.

Jack up the car using one of the rear jackpoints on one side first. Lift the car high enough to get a jackstand underneath the front jackpoint. Do the same on the other side. Then jack up the rear of the car using the engine/gearbox joint, and position jackstands underneath the rear jackpoints. Reverse the procedure to get the car down again.

I have jacked up my car endless times from underneath the engine with no ill effects.
