fiberglass panels for street use?

im in the process of restoring a 73 911 that has some damage to the rear quarter. i've seen fiberglass quarters from gt racing that would give the car an rs look. are these panels ok for use on a daily driver and will the blending of fiberglass and steel have any effect on the painting of the car? any input is appreciated.

Fibreglass to metal bonding never lasts.Eventually the flairs will separate or crack from the stress of the flexing of the car, if you look at vehicles that came with glass flairs from the factory they are riveted on which doesn't look very good. The proper method is to use a steel flair butt welded on.

jryerson is dead right. The torsional rigidity factors of metal and glass make it highly unlikely an adhesive bond will last without cracking. Moreover, the dissimilar elements of the body, bonding agent, glass fender, filler and paint will all conspire against each other over time, asymetric stress and temperature ranges. Butt welding steel flares and metal filling the gaps is the right way to go.
