shift bushings

Hey guys,

I'm replacing the bushings of my 915 shifter.
I've replaces the coupler and upgraded with a short shift kit. I also replaced the ball cup bushing

My question: The shift rod bushing that was delivered with the kit looks the same as the worn one, only about 20% smaller (little white round bushing)? It doesn't fit over the rod. I could make it fit, but I was wondering if this is normal. Did they change the shift rod bushings over the years?

Ps. not only the inside is smaller, the WHOLE bushing is smaller. I'm even wondering it it will stick in the handle...

Your comments please...
Johan

Hmm... I changed mine about 6 months ago and the rod bushing was the same size as the one I took out of it. It was easy to slip the new one over the shift rod, although it was a real a pain to get the bushing in the holder - I had to squeeze it in with channel lock pliers. Unless anyone says differently I would say you have the wrong bushing - maybe you have one for an earlier shifter which has been shipped to you by mistake or something?

That was also my first thought, but I checked the 65-68 bushings and they look totally different. I think I will order a new bushing and install my shifter with the old one for the moment...

That's probably the safest bet. Bushings are cheap, and it will only take a moment to whip the shift tower back out when you get the new bushing anyway. Good luck.
