Name that part

Can somebody tell me what is the open "tube" in the center of the picture off the intake?
The engine is an '86 3.2.
It keeps stalling and won't hold an idle under 2000rpm.
Over and above 200rpm, it runs great.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Here is a picture of what should be there. Part of the fuel/intake system. So that would most definately affect the idle.

Michael,
Thanks for the quick response and clear pictures.
I think maybe this tube was capped on my car. The tip appears to be clean, but there are no unconnected hoses near it. I will cap it off and see what happens.
