Can anyone tell me how to get my radio out?

I have never messed with the radio in any of my cars, can anyone tell me how to take mine out? THe car is a 1982 911 SC Targa and It has an in dash Kenwood single CD that I want to take out. It is a bit of a mystery, any of you electronics gurus know the trick?

Thanks

First off do you have the little tools that came with the radio? I believe the Kenwood tools were long and really flat. First remove the face plate and put it aside. Now on both ends there should be holes, sometimes 4 (one in ea corner) and sometimes 2 (just one on each end). Again I think the Kenwood only had two holes. So take your special little tools insert them in the holes and what they do is press down the locking tabs that essentially unlock the tabs. Holding those tabs in the unlocked position gently pull your radio out. It should slide right out. Just do slow cause some of the wires may be tight back there. What's nice about the 911 is that you can access the wires from underneath so you don't have to pull your radio EVERY time you want to do/try something.

Oh, if you don't have the tools you're SCREWED!!! J/K! Sometimes auto parts stores carry them. I used a Ford tool to remove my Blaupunkt head unit. If you can't find one there just stop in to a stereo shop and I'm sure they have tons of them laying around. They may even do it for you in the parking lot cause it's super easy.

GOOD LUCK!

EDIT: Just for information here is a link to Stereo Removal Tools:

But you can get them locally I'm sure.

Or you can just use small screw drivers, coat hangers etc.

Garage
Take it to Worst Buy or Circuit Village. Some acne face kid can rip it out for you.
