A/C Relay Question
I just noticed that my '86 has a red fuel pump relay #911.615.108.01 where the A/C relay is supposed to be in the front fuse and relay panel (Bentley Fig 971-1). Does that make any sense? It seems to be working.
The A/C relay that I just ordered from Pelican does not look like it will fit into the existing socket. Do I need an adapter? I see from searching the subject that this is an updated relay. |
Have you checked the smuggler's box for a relay location?

Jim,
Is that where the evaporator blower relay is located? |
I don't believe there is an evaporator relay per se in an '86. Looking at the '86 wiring digram there is a relay that provides power to the entire A/C system and a second one that provides power to the front condenser blower. What isn't working on your car?

Is the relay you're trying to install blocky shaped, have four blade terminals (85, 30, 86, 87), a fuse on top and and the part number 911.615.103.01? If so it's the front condenser blower relay updated with a fuse. On an '86 the main A/C relay is round, red and contains a diode.

Go to Rat Shack and buy an automotive relay. It's a lot cheaper than a Porsche relay that is now made in CHina.
