CDI gone bad?

I went to start mi car today and it won't start. I went to the back and there is no whinning noise coming from the cdi box.

My question is before I go and get a new one, is there anything that could make it go bad from one day to the next?. Hell I parked the car yesterday and it was working fine.

Thanks

Most likely problem is old, corroded electrical connections ... maybe loose, too!

Check for + 12 Volt power at the 'B' connector of the CDI mating connector ... center Red wire. There are several connections between ignition switch and CDI unit ... at 6-pole connector under dash at fuse 7-8 buss connection, at forward 14-pin connector on electrical panel in engine compartment, at single-wire disconnect on heavy Red wire going to CDI 3-pin connector.

How do you test a CDI that is out of the car? I recently purchased a used CDI and would like to test it.
