best is to use the factory RS parts

There are 3 parts different from normal that the factory used for the 964 and 993 RS shift mechanism
964.424.015.08 lever
964.424.017.01 fork
964.424.020.35 rod

the same pieces are used on 964 5 speed and 993 6 speed transmissions.

As w/ the 911 equivalents shorter throws and less slop are the benefits.

The only rubber even in the stock ones is at the tranmission end of the rod. The RS replaces that w/ a solid fitting

Here are some pics originally posted by Geoffrey on Rennlist

You can also replace the bushing in the coupler with a 914 bushing. It's still plastic, but it is round instead of oval. I basically becomes a wevo coupler for about 10% of the price. There is NO slop and feels like a gate shifter.

I had to have mine pressed in for about $10.

Yes, they are, but there have been some pretty steep price increases over the past year or so.

Bill,

You are probably getting carpal tunnel from typing this very same info so many times! I, for one, appreciate your patience.

That said, I understand your preference is for the above kit. I have a query in at my local Porsche dealership for price and availability. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on the Weltmeister kit? Looks to be a similar concept to the RS kit and it costs about $250. I have no idea what the factory parts will cost. I'm sure my PCA discount will knock it down next to nothing.

Never used the Welt but rumor has it those that have are not the happiest.

The factory parts are getting to be extremely expensive, the shift lever and fork are reasonable but the rod was cloing in on $500 last I heard.

Do the fork lever and hope that someone(Wevo?) comes up w/ a reasonable priced coupler for the end of a stock rod, it should be easily doable.

if anyone buys the rod be sure to get the bolt that goes w/ it, the bolt is not the same as the stock one.
999.074.042.02 M8x21.5 fitted bolt

N.011.654.5 washer is generic

This is for the coupler in the tunnel, correct? Where would I go about getting one, PP shows a 911 replacement bushing for use in the 914 and that the 914 style bushings are NLA? Should I look for used?

Dealer pricing as follows-

57.45-lever (in stock)

57.45-fork (in stock)

423.53-rod (German stock-3-5 weeks eta)

I didn't ask if the pca discount applies to these items.
