Dave I am not sure in your case, But I have seen other cases where guys doing these seal replacements used the wrong seal or installed it wrong. I meant my post as a heads-up to you so you don't have to yank the engine back out. John walker is the man. I am sure hewould be more than happy to help you. John walker is on this site often If ya can't get ahold of him. Let me know. Jim

John Walker was a big boost in the confidence I needed to do this. We have e-mailed back and forth quite a bit.

before and after

Spent the weekend replacing spring plate bushings. Time consuming but not as bad as I thought it would be.

Engine assembly is going well.

Here is a before and a few after.

Bet you can't get my 74 looking that good...

zbph10 08-27-2006 10:32 PM

The after picture of the motor looks great.

How did you get the aluminum looking that nice? Mine seems dull and cleaning doesn't seem to help much.

I'm assuming the fan was painted?

I've got my engine out right now and will be starting the cleaning and detailing process next week.

Thanks
Brian

Brian,

The fan is painted. It is a graphite color, I will post exact names of paint tonight when I get home. I bead blasted the fan and pully then painted then clear coat. Valve covers were soaked in cleaning solution and clear coated(high heat paint).
I power washed the engine with lots of degreaser.
Thanks for the nice words
David

it's in almost there

Don't mind the wrong washer on the pully. We are still going through boxes trying to locate it. If anyone has an extra let me know.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1157338404.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1157338418.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1157338462.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1157338477.jpg

Well engine is in and all my stupid mistakes fixed. No leaks, sounds better than it ever did. Runs great
Clutch is super smooth(new clutch re-surfaced flywheel)
no clunks from spring plate bushings(replaced)
All new fuel lines no leaks

Winter is coming I'm going to replace front suspension bushings

Thanks to all on this board who helped

I could never imagined it would turn out this well.

Thanks
David
