I have one of the HF testers - it worked fine, at least it was right in the sense that it told me I needed a rebuild. 2 cylinders were reading 12-14% and all the rest read around 6%. I used it a few times to keep an eye on things until I had the money to rebuild. I'm glad I didn't blow $300 on the snapon since I've only used it 3-4 times.

As mentioned above, it's not a website special price. It's in the most recent paper copy sales flyer which apparently is out in at least Florida and California so I guess that rules out it being a local special.

One of the things you can run into with HF Tools is that there are actually two separate companies, each owned separately by family members. One company has physical retail stores and the other is purely a mail order business. The stores do not necessarily honor the sales prices of the mail order business, even though the owners are members of the same family. At least.....that is what was told to me by a HF store person.

I think it's funny to have a serious discussion about the possibility that a $40 HF diagnostic tool may not be junk...
Look at the second gauge in the picture - that, at least, IS junk.
