It's too hot out! Winter question.
In cool temperatures my AAR takes forever for the RPMs to drop from about 1800-2000 RPM. I can drive for 10 min and the revs still stay up. Ususally if I shut it off and start again a little later the idle will drop down. My mechanic confirmed that the AAR is not working properly. Having priced a new one--astronomical!-- is there any way to fix the one I have?

Search AAR and Mystery Train. He has a great thread on repairing/tuning the AAR.

Hey, Paul..rs6er..You should check for 12 volts at the connector that plugs into the AAR and also check that you have 17 to 27 ohms [top of my head with those values] on the heating element. You can measure that from the two terminals on the AAR. The AAR needs to have the heating element powered to get the bi metal strips to close the opening. The engine heat isn't always enough and will cause it to drop the idle very slowly.
