A ‘70S engine should have MFI. Yes, having carburetors does hurt its performance.- typically 10-15 hp and possibly in drivability. The value of these engines is increasingly with originality. Many internal mods can gain a lot of power and most can be un-done if necessary. Some mods are very desirable; piston squirters, oil by-pass, etc. If you can reinstall the MFI, do it.

Best,
Grady

Grady, thanks for the reply,I have a chance to buy a #'s matching S that has been modified over the years to kind of a turbo look which I know could be brought back but with the carbs I wonder if there really is any sense in it,does this hurt the value drastically?thanks marty

Reinstalling the MFI is just another part of the restoration. A matching numbers ’70 911S is probably worth the effort. Having carbs should reduce the sale price. Is the MFI available with the car?

The critical issue is; what is the rust and prior crash damage situation?
Are you sure they are matching numbers?

Best,
Grady

Grady, you sure know what to zero in on,ther is rust underneath by the rocker panel/jack and there is a noticable gap on driver door by the mirror as well as pass side spoiler has a gap as well, are these related?do they spell more trouble than worth, youu can pretty much put your finger into the car in that spot if you wanted to,what is your opinion, thanks, marty
