Hit and harrassed in the span of an hour! Is she damaged?
I was out for a quick spin and stopped off to pick up some things. Parking spot on the street, not much traffic (long weekend up here in Canada) and thought it would be OK to park a bit away from my destination.
Pulled up behind a minvan and saw the driver get into the van as I walked away, heard a bang, and turned around and she backed into my car! ****! "No one was there a second ago". True. And with the top down, hard to see the car. It must have rolled back a few inches. I had it in first. Serenity now, serenity now... Is this a problem? To make matters worse, coming out of the store a few minutes later, I look down the street and see some people gathering in the vicinity of the car (still can;t see it yet). As I get closer, it looks as if someone jumps out of it. A gang of teens/twenties, a few couples in total, then walk towards me and I hear something like, "never miss a photo op", and one of these chicks puts her camera away. I was dumbfounded by their boldness and lack of respect for others property. I guess that's what you get driving a P, and parking it on the street, with the top down, out of sight. Lawrence (car in garage at the moment)

That is a sad price for notoriety and fame.
Listen to Tool's song 'Vicarious' and you get the whole idea why others live through your mishaps just to get their thrills. Cause I need to watch things die From a distance Vicariously, I Live while the whole world dies You all need it too - don't lie. Why can't we just admit it? Why can't we just admit it? We won't give pause until the blood is flowin' Neither the brave nor bold Will write us the story so We won't give pause until the blood is flowin' Sick world we have created, indeed. Sorry for your stint. I hope the damage isn't too extensive. |

So sad and frustrating.
Personally, I feel thats the drawback with most impact driving a valued sports car. The constant worrying about leaving the car out of home. Parking in the street, parking lots and not least over night. I find myself picking the Jeep repeatedly when I would have loved to go in my Porsche, simply because I know I will have to leave it in the street or over night. Its a pain, but on the bright side the mileage is kept down. Hope your car did not sustain any serious injuries. And teenagers - what can I say. Most of them deserves a good thrashing.

I read an article years ago, probably Peter Egan, where a friend took out his Jag E type convertible out only to find it someone threw trash in it while the top was down. Grrrr....
I guess we can still take them to club and track events. Other enthusiasts will leave it alone.

Luckily her bumper just rubbed against the front bumper trim. I was wondering though if I should be worrying about suspension/tranny damage (was in gear). I am sure that it is fine but riding it home, my mind was playing tricks and it seems that thes alignment might be off. I just had it done 1500 miles ago!

I only drive my car for pleasure drives, going to the dealer, friends home or car events. Rarely park it out of site, even then. When I see posts like this, or the key jobs, or the other reports of vandalism -- one Rennlister was sitting at an outdoor cafe with his car parked right in front of him. A guy walks up and asks, "Is this your car?" Not wanting to get into a discussion, he politely answered "No." The guy then walks up to the car and kicks in the passenger door! -- it makes me think about selling it and getting something lower key. It's a shame...

Unfortunately there are a few warped individuals out there who take perverse pleasure in disrespecting other people and their property.

Its unfortunate, but at least none of those kids jumped into it, given the top was down. I would not it that pass people like that.

If there were telltale signs like dirt on the seats/new scuffs, I'd be going off on 'em.

even if i'm just running into the store or whatever, when my targa top is off i at least roll up my windows, if i'm going to be more than a couple minutes i put on the top. a small delay to secure the car goes a long way, sorry to hear of the drama.
i too drive my nissan truck when i know i need to park in an unsavory area, and always avoid parking on the street.
